Remember The Good Days
Written By: Jim Gaffney
Verse 1
Sunlight danced on the water’s face
Them fish would be jumpin’ in our secret place
With lines in the water time would slow down
One day of memories of many we found
I wish I knew how fast time would go
Wish I could go back and make it slow
Thought it’d last forever, but I was wrong
My boys grew up quick, but grew up strong
Work took a toll and those days became few
Now I’d sell my soul just to start anew
Nothin’ I wouldn’t give to get those times back
Just a few more minutes is all that I ask
Chorus
Tides and time don’t wait for no one
At the end of the day when the work’s been done
Wherever you walk and whatever you do
Friendship and family will see you through
Our years together offered lessons true
You learned from me and I from you
Through thick and thin we stood up tall
All for one and one for all
Be humble, kind, strong and true
These lessons of life I pass onto you
One day that river will wash me away
But memories of together will always remain
Remember the good daaaaaaays
Remember the good days
Verse 2
With jobs to work and bills to pay
College called and things slowly changed
Wedding bells rang, a new life begun
Grandkids’ laughter replaced the young sons’
Workin’ so hard just to survive
Always there for each other with family pride
Holidays came, but the days flew past
We swore those moments would always last
Sunday dinner instead of fishing lines
Trying to fit love into borrowed time
Though distance grew, I was grateful for
Times with my sons, fishin’ from shore
Chorus
Tides and time don’t wait for no one
At the end of the day when the work’s been done
Wherever you walk and whatever you do
Friendship and family will see you through
Our years together offered lessons true
You learned from me and I from you
Through thick and thin we stood up tall
All for one and one for all
Be humble, kind, strong and true
These lessons of life I pass onto you
One day that river will wash me away
But memories of together will always remain
Remember the good daaaaaaays
Remember the good days
Bridge
The river keeps movin’ through present and past
I wish there was a way to make it last
Seasons may change, but our bond holds fast
Anchored in moments of our family’s past
When life pulls us far from that place in time
The memories of my sons always play in my mind
A simple cast, it takes me right back
To that place where the world was ours to catch
Outro
The pride and love that I have in my heart
Didn’t always say it but it’s been there from the start
Before that tide comes to take me away
A chance to remember
Remember the good daaaaaaays
I’ll remember the good days
