The founder of Sunrise Lyrics, Jim Gaffney is a lyricist who works primarily in the country genre, though he occasionally ventures into other musical styles. He is best known for his authentic and emotional country ballads that speak to real-life experiences.
Jim is a resident of St. Augustine Florida. His background in technology/computer programming as well as his love of writing as a self-published author, convinced Jim to pursue songwriting as a new avenue of self-expression. Always fascinated by all musical genres, Jim found early on that he had a knack for writing country ballads which is the genre that he most closely associates with as a husband, father and grandfather.
“I began experimenting with AI to generate music and vocals for my lyrical creations as a way to express my true interpretation of the story. This authentic process of handwriting lyrics and producing a musical version with the assistance of AI was no minor undertaking. While AI is an invaluable tool in which to create vocals and music, getting it just right takes time and it is by no means a shortcut. It can take hours, days or weeks to write a quality ballad. Producing the song through AI also takes time and dedication. I thoroughly enjoy the entire process from writing through the end of production.”
“AI gets a bad rap in my opinion. As a society, we have the tendency to become too dependent on technology and it can often be a double edged sword. It’s my belief that AI is similar to many other technological improvements in that it should be used sparingly and within the proper context. While I have no doubt that an individual could write and produce a song solely via AI, it would severely lack the substance and signature that can only truly come from the inspiration and vision of a human artist.”
“When I started producing vocals and music via AI to pair with my handwritten lyrics, I promised myself that the quality of the finished product had to rise to a certain level in order to seek publication. Through hard work and dedication, I feel that I have achieved the level of quality that I was seeking. I also see noticeable improvement with each new song that I write and produce.”
“My wife is my biggest critic. Although she enjoys the songs that I write, she tells me that ‘I need to write more happy songs’ so I have some work cut out for me. My motto is that ‘A song unheard is a story untold’.”
